Timestamped Commentary Subtitles: Turn Shared Listening into a Living Conversation

What is SoundCloud Notes?

SoundCloud Notes is your gateway to collaborative audio experiences. Inspired by SoundCloud's timestamped comments, this tool transforms personal or shared bookmarks into dynamic subtitle files (.srt) that overlay on videos or audio playback. Perfect for revisiting podcasts, lectures, or music with layered insights—solo or with friends.

Whether you're annotating a solo listening session or co-creating "double-entry" commentary with a buddy, SoundCloud Notes makes every timestamp a story, every note a dialogue.

Key Features

How It Works

Getting started is as straightforward as sharing a playlist:

  1. Capture Bookmarks: Use a player like Elmedia or PotPlayer to add timestamped notes during playback. Export as .txt or .pbt files.
  2. Run the Converter: Use our Python script to process single or dual inputs into an .srt file. Example for dual: python3 potplayer_pbt_dual_to_srt.py input1.pbt input2.pbt output.srt
  3. Replay with Subtitles: Load your video/audio and the .srt file—watch comments unfold in real-time like subtitles in a film.
  4. Share & Iterate: Exchange files with friends for evolving, multi-layered discussions.

Pro tip: Ideal for book clubs, therapy sessions, or music reviews—turn passive listening into active exchange!
